Top upcoming NFT games in 2022
NFT technology has brought many people closer to the blockchain world over months. One of the most popular applications of these tools comes from the gaming industry, where developers create virtual universes to purchase in-game items as NFTs.
In 2021 we have seen the birth of many interesting NFT games, with increasingly innovative applications of this new technology. In addition, the last few weeks have announced many exciting projects that it will launch on the market in 2022.
Although it is tough to limit the choice to a few of these initiatives, in this article, we will talk about three of the top upcoming NFT games for the following year.
RaceFI – A Solana-based NFT game
RaceFI is a new play-to-earn (P2E) game built on a racing style, letting users own different game parts. Players are entitled to an earning in this digital world based on the game components. As you may guess, the game parts that a user can own are minted into NFTs.
How does the game work?
Based on a machine learning (ML) set of algorithms, RaceFI is among the first games built on the Solana blockchain. The game offers different modes to let players race at full speed and own in-game digital assets.
Pure Race and Battle Race are the two main features of the game. Under the Pure Race option, players can compete in two game modes. If they wish to control their car during the race, it will select the PvP (“Player versus Player”) mode. Otherwise, there’s an exciting option (the PvE mode, or “Player versus Environment”) to let the AI system based on the player’s car settings.
The racing game will move towards a survival-style experience if a user selects the Battle Race feature. Once players upgrade their cars with shields, weapons, and other battle features, RaceFI will implement a new set of rules. Specifically, the time limit and finish line will be removed, letting players battle each other until only one of them is left to win the competition.
What is next for this game?
The game developers have completed a series of fundamental steps over Q4 2021. As a result, the project’s team anticipates launching the game by June 2022. Simultaneously, the $RACEFI token will also be available to the public, and it will be the key to the blockchain of the game.
By spending $RACEFI, users will obtain parts of the game as NFTs.
Battle of Guardians – A new fighting game
Battle of Guardians is another Solana-based game coming in 2022. With its multiplayer platform and ongoing game development on Unreal Engine, this looks like one of the most exciting titles for next year.
Each character in the game is an NFT, which can level up by fighting other online players or NPCs (non-playable characters).
How does the game work?
It’s not only player avatars: everything in the game is minted into NFTs. Players can obtain items while playing, enter the NFT marketplace and sell them. Therefore, the ambition of the project’s team is to create a virtual economy living in the game world.
The game developers designed a reward system to raise NFTs values. If you lend your NFTs to another player, for example, you will receive a fee (or, instead, an interest rate). In addition, the game ecosystem has an active Telegram community that you can join to learn about the latest news on the project.
What is next for this game?
The 2022 roadmap currently has four phases:
- Phase 1: the game development is, as of now, in this phase. The project’s team is raising capital to launch its $BGS token, which will allow transactions among players in the game.
- Phase 2: The first NFT sale will be launched, together with the PvE gaming mode. In this phase, the developers also expect to launch the NFT marketplace.
- Phase 3: PvP and Tournament modes will be ready and introduced into the game. The first online season campaign will officially begin.
- Phase 4: Finally, players will access NFT renting and synthetizing.
Polygonum – A survival simulation game
Polygonum is a survival simulation NFT game where players can trade the $POG token for various purposes. This is an online open-world experience built on blockchain and featuring an NFT Marketplace.
How does the game work?
The $POG token is based on BSC (Binance Smart Chain), and it allows coin holders to join the game, the marketplace, trade NFT lands, and much more. By playing online, users can fight with other players, collect their items and sell them on the market. It can also craft items, and players are allowed to mine resources.
What is next for this game?
The development team is working on smart contracts and the NFT Marketplace building. By Q1 2022, the game will have its first alpha release as a demo PC version. After that, Q2 and Q3 2022 will see further development in the game, reaching an official mobile launch by the end of the year.
In Q1 2023, the project’s team expects to release a browser version with virtual reality (VR) implementation by June 2023.
Games & NFT in 2022 – Final thoughts
The three games mentioned in this article are only a few among the many promising projects for next year in this industry. The P2E format is increasing in popularity, reaching a new milestone in the engagement level generated by blockchain technology.
It will be interesting to observe new NFT game formats hitting the market during the year, and we will keep an eye on the topic for our readers.
